Your data & privacy

Hosted services under maintenance: Vinci Chat, Mobile, Platform and the managed API are under maintenance. The instructions below are retained for when the relevant features are available; they do not promise access or a return date. This notice does not apply to public model downloads or Vinci Code’s bring-your-own-key setup. See the current products page .

Privacy is central to Vinci. Here’s what that means in plain language — including the details about what is stored. This help page does not replace the published Privacy Policy ; consult it for the governing definitions, exceptions, retention periods and your rights.

We don’t keep your conversations by default

By default, Vinci doesn’t save the content of your conversations to our servers. When you send a message, Vinci reads it to write a reply — and then the message and the reply aren’t written to our logs, databases, or analytics.

This conversation-content default is not a claim that no account, security, support or saved-feature data exists. See the policy and the feature-specific sections below.

The things that are saved — because they’re meant to be

Several features intentionally save data. Their storage location and controls differ:

Memories. Facts you save (or let Vinci save) are kept on your device by default; with device sync on, they’re also saved to your account so they’re available on your other devices. See, edit, or delete them under Account → Memory — deletions apply right away.
Custom instructions & skills you set are saved so they apply to future chats.
Documents saved for retrieval are stored, tied to your account, and deleted when you delete them.
Anything you share with a public link (like a shared document) stays available until you revoke the link.
Synced conversations, if you turn on device sync (see below).

Anonymous usage analytics

To understand how Vinci is used and improve it, we collect a small amount of anonymous product analytics — for example which features are used, which model handled a request, how long a reply took, and error types. We never send conversation content: your messages, replies, attachments, saved memories, and searches are never sent — the chat input is explicitly excluded, and there is no field for any of it. It’s processed by PostHog (United States); IP addresses aren’t stored and there’s no persistent profile of you. Analytics is off until you turn it on in Settings — Vinci works exactly the same either way.

Where it runs

Model inference runs on DeepInfra or Fireworks, depending on the class, using Canadian and US infrastructure. Zero Data Retention is enforced with both providers.
Your account, any synced conversations, and files you upload are stored in Canada (Montréal).
Web search runs mainly through Canadian infrastructure, with a US provider as backup.

Where your conversations live

By default, your chat history is stored only on your device (in your browser or the mobile app) — not on our servers. Sensitive questions stay between you and the model in the moment.

About device sync

If you want your conversations available across devices, you can opt in to device sync. When you turn it on, your chats are stored for you (encrypted at rest) so they follow you when you sign in elsewhere:

Off by default. Nothing syncs unless you enable it.
Stored in Canada. Synced conversations live in Montréal.
Reversible. Turn sync off anytime; your local history stays on your device.

If you keep sync off, copy out anything you want to keep before closing a conversation.

What this means for you

Private by default. With sync off, your conversation content isn’t retained on our servers.
You’re in control of what you save. Memories, uploads, shared links, and sync are all opt-in — and removable.
As with any tool, avoid pasting secrets you wouldn’t want stored anywhere.

Open weights

SimpleDirect publishes open-weight models: files you can run with compatible software under their individual licences. This does not mean the hosted apps or all their features run locally. Start with the model catalogue and check your chosen software’s data handling.
