Hosted services under maintenance: Vinci Chat, Mobile, Platform and the managed API are under maintenance. The instructions below are retained for when the relevant features are available; they do not promise access or a return date. This notice does not apply to public model downloads or Vinci Code’s bring-your-own-key setup. See the current products page .
What is Vinci?
Vinci names the AI research, models, technologies, and products developed by SimpleDirect®, an independent Canadian AI lab. It is not a separate company. See What is Vinci? for models, software and app entry points.
Where do I find MLE, Cyber or Vinci Code?
Use the current model catalogue for model downloads and Vinci Code CLI for the terminal coding tool. A downloadable model is not automatically available through a hosted app or API. Each model card states its own licence and evidence.
Is it free?
You can try Vinci with a few free messages a day, no sign-up. Free accounts include trial credits, and paid Vinci and Vinci Pro plans add monthly credits to the shared USD balance. See Billing & limits for current plan and credit details.
Does Vinci save my conversations?
Data handling depends on the feature, including sync and documents saved for retrieval. See Your data & privacy and the published Privacy Policy for the applicable retention rules.
Do you use analytics?
A little — anonymous product analytics (which features are used, which model, response times, error types) to help us improve Vinci. We never send your messages, files, memories, or searches. It’s off until you turn it on in Settings. See Your data & privacy.
Where is my data processed?
Model inference runs on DeepInfra or Fireworks, depending on the class, using Canadian and US infrastructure. Zero Data Retention is enforced with both providers. Your account, any synced conversations, and files you upload are stored in Canada (Montréal). See Your data & privacy.
Which model should I use?
For downloadable models, start with the model catalogue and the task and limitations described on each model page.
The retained hosted-app guidance names Vinci Mezzo (mezzo), Vinci Forte
(forte, the documented default) and Vinci Fortissimo (fortissimo). These
class names are not download names or current availability promises. When available, in chat,
click the model badge at the top right to switch inline, or choose under Settings →
Personalization. Per-app overrides are available. See

What is Vinci Council?
For big, open-ended calls — “should I raise a seed round or bootstrap?” — Vinci can gather a few independent perspectives and reconcile them into one honest answer instead of a single take. It kicks in automatically for genuinely weighty questions; everyday questions still get a normal, direct reply. See Using the Vinci app.
Can I use Vinci in other apps or my own code?
Yes. Issue an API key and point your tool at Vinci. Because the API is OpenAI-compatible, many tools work with just a base-URL and key change. Full details are in the developer docs ↗ .
Why didn’t my chat history follow me to another device?
By default conversations are stored only on the device you used. Turn on device sync in your account to make them available everywhere. See Account & sign-in.
Is Vinci finished?
Chat, Mobile, Platform and the managed API are under maintenance. Public model releases and their individual limitations are listed in the model catalogue . You can still share feedback.
